27 - Ambassadors for Christ
"Now than, we are ambassadors
for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore
you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
- 2 Corinthians 5:20
The major theme of these devotional thoughts
throughout this campaign is proclaiming God's glory. As ambassadors
for Christ, we proclaim the message of the Gospel with a longing
for others to hear and embrace the message of God's love. The
starting point for all this is our own hearts. It is good, and
biblical, to examine our hearts from time to time to assess the
state of our devotion and longing for our Lord. As Psalm 42:1-2
reminds us, "As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants
my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living
God." These are the ones God uses as His ambassadors as they
are sold out to Him in faith. For these, their treasure is above
and not on the earth, and these earthly resources are o more than
tools through which they pursue the magnificent calling God has
placed on them for His own glory.
If every believer at First Presbyterian
Church expressed this kind of heart, I think buildings would grow
out of ministering harts excited about the future prospects of
serving God together as His people. Though we might be tempted
to worry, and to place our hope in earthly resources, we need
not, no, we must not, do so? God is ready to use His people to
make a difference-those whose hearts are passionate in His service.
Prayer - Lord, grant me a heart that holds
true passion for You and for the mission of Your church. Move
me Lord to proclaim Your Love from the rooftops with passion and
expectancy that You will choose to use me for Your glory. In Jesus'
Name, Amen.
