February 07 - How Big is God?
The ax head floated. 2 Kings 6:7.
And the sun stood still. Joshua 10:13.
For this God is our God for ever and ever. Psalm 48:14.
How big is your God? Does he fit into the little box that you've
designed for him? Someone wise once said, "God created man
in his own image, and then man returned the favor." Don't
let your limited concept of God limit his work in your life. Read
the Word; ponder the God you meet in its pages. Let him be the
awesome, almighty God of the universe. Be amazed that this God,
our God is concerned with our every moment Thou dost know my when
I sit down and when I rise up; Thou dost understand my thought
from afar. Thou dost scrutinize my path and my lying down, And
art intimately acquainted with all my ways. (Psalm 139:2-3) and
has made provision for our every need. (But my God shall supply
all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus
(Philippians 4:19).
This God, our God is the God of the impossible
(a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son), the improbable (the
fish . . . vomited out Jonah on the dry land) and the downright
hard to believe (he hath made us accepted in the beloved). What
is it that you need to trust this God, our God for today . . .
for next week . . . for our church? Behold, I am the Lord, the
God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me (Jeremiah
32:27)? Are you tempted to believe God's work is in the past?
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
If you have ever seen God's hand at work in your life or in his
church, you can be certain he is still at work. And I am sure
of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to
completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).
Why does he do this? Why does he bind himself
to us with his promises? Why does he stoop so low? so that we
. . . might be to the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:12). How
amazing it is that we could bring glory to the almighty God of
the universe!
