February 06 - One Body, Many Members
For as the body is one and has many members,
but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body,
so also is Christ. - I Corinthians 12:12
Just as the church universal contains
many parts, the local church body consists of many members. Each
member has been blessed with a unique gift and talent to contribute
to the body. Scripture instructs us to edify one another with
our gifts and talents so that Christ may be glorified and the
local body strengthened. Among the various gifts and talents the
Lord grants each of us is the proper use of our time, money, abilities,
and duties to support the local body of Christ.
One duty that is often neglected is our
faithful attendance of worship services. For Scripture tells us
in Hebrews 10:25 "not to forsake the assembling of ourselves
together." It pleases the Lord when His people come together
to worship Him in truth and in spirit. Therefore, the church is
more than brick and mortar; it is a place to worship God Almighty
and to build up the body of Christ.
So what is your role in the body of Christ?
Are you fully utilizing the gifts and talents that God has bestowed
upon you? Are you willing to increase your participation in the
church with your gifts and faithful presence?
