Devotional

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
I Corinthians 10:31

This devotional guide is not a professional production by some famous book publisher or accomplished author. It contains 31 devotional readings. It represents the combined contributions of about two dozen members of First Presbyterian Church of Prattville, Alabama. It tells you something about what our church thinks about the upcoming campaign to PROCLAIM HIS GLORY. Yes, it is also about a building and raising money, but our goal with this devotional was to direct people's eyes, their thoughts, and their prayers toward that which is the most important thing in our lives - the glory of God. We should change more than a building in the next few years; we should change the way we look at the Lord and our church, how the community views us and how we reach out to the community, and, yes, even ourselves. If there's anything that the doctrine of total depravity should teach us, it is that we need change, which is only possible by God's unmerited, loving grace.

I encourage you to read these devotionals each day. They are all based on God's Word and provide something edifying for any reader, who approaches the Word with a submissive heart of faith. They are written by some people you know well and some you don't know so well. I hope that we all read these devotionals and grow in our faith. People, even Christians, think faith is such a small thing. We discount it so often. Yet it is the means God uses to miraculously save us. Jesus said just a tiny bit of faith can move mountains. My prayer is that these devotionals encourage your faith - so that you can move mountains. If we do it by faith, then God will receive all the glory. PROCLAIM HIS GLORY.

"Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD." Jeremiah 9:23-24.
